This Blog Has Moved!

Posted by popwheel on August 1, 2008

Yay!  I’ve finally gotten around to moving this blog!  The main reason I felt the need to move is that Javascript is restricted on the wordpress.com servers.  By moving to my own server, I will finally be able to use some of the tools that I’ve had my eye on for such a long time–like the Etsy Mini

My blog’s new home is at:

popwheel.com

I’ve mirrored all the posts and comments from this site to the new location.

It’s your printmakerjenn!

Posted by popwheel on July 18, 2008

I was trolling around the Internet today and found this cute little widget:

The “Sloganizer” tool generates Advertising-esque slogans based on a word entered by the user.  Here are a couple that it came up with for me:

There’s only one true printmakerjenn!

printmakerjenn, the clever way.

Ahhhhhh…I feel so warm and fuzzy…and totally marketable!

I have new artwork in my shop today:

Red Anemone Poppy Flower — Original Watercolor Painting ACEO

Gray Anemone Poppies — Original Watercolor Painting 4×6″

Yawwwwwn!

Posted by popwheel on July 17, 2008

Some mornings my favorite invention is the “brew delay” alarm clock feature on my coffee pot.  That way when I stumble out into the kitchen all bleary-eyed, I can grope around in the cabinet for a mug and pour myself some of the magic elixir quickly.  I can’t handle tasks that require any amount of dexterity—like trying to separate out just one coffee filter from the stack.  Now if I can only remember to set it up the night before!!!

Here are a few of my latest paintings currently available in my shop:

Sick Kitty :-(

Posted by popwheel on July 7, 2008

One of my furry babies is sick!  In fact, we’ve been told that he’s probably not going to survive.  We took him to the vet’s office on Thursday of last week and finally made the decision to bring him home yesterday.  Partially because they didn’t have overnight care on Sunday night, but also because I don’t want him to spend any more of his time in a cage.  So right now he’s sitting at his favorite window watching the birds and squirrels outside.  I have an ice pack on him and the air conditioning is turned up trying to bring down his temperature.  He’s also getting lots of pets and kisses.  *sigh*

Loitering in the Tubes

Posted by popwheel on June 12, 2008

Last night I was doing a bit of online “research”. You know the type where you start off with every intention of investigating a topic or just checking your email and before you know it you’re hip-deep in Celebrity Gossip and your eyes are so dry that you can hear yourself blink. Take a peek at this site the next time you are “checking your email”. This artist, who calls herself “14”, posts satirical commentary along with her own original artwork on Gallery of the Absurd. Her illustrations are really quite lovely and some available to purchase:

Enough with the dirt! Here’s some recent additions to my shop:

Foggy-Day Flowers — Original Watercolor ACEO/ATC

I really like the background of this little painting–yellow and gray is surprisingly soothing to me.

I also created an ACEO of this little Raven.  He looks ready to steal shiny metal objects.

Red Flowers — Original Watercolor 8×10″

I love how the red flowers really seem to pop off the white of the paper on this painting.

Hooray For June!

Posted by popwheel on June 5, 2008

You would hardly know it’s almost Summer here in Portland–it was drizzly and gray again today (which I love!). I’m happy it’s June because my daughter (Pink Ninja Girl) will be out of school in just a week. My mom is planning a trip with my younger niece to visit the baby. They’ll be able to stay for longer than an overnight trip this time. I’m hoping we’ll be able to go and stay at my parents’ house several times this Summer as well.

Oscar is about 4 months old now! He’s developing well and finally…FINALLY giggling. I know it’s right on schedule and all but I’ve been anxiously awaiting this milestone. It’s my favorite time! There really is nothing quite like baby smiles and giggles.

I’m pretty sure that I’m experiencing something that a lot of other new SAHMs deal with–it’s like a form of culture clash. If you had told me a year ago that I would use the phrase, “So we were watching Baby Einstein today…” in a sentence, I would have thought you were nuts. Life just keeps changing! However, I draw the line at Barney.

Over the weekend I got the urge for homemade scones. I served them with freshly brewed coffee and blackberry jam. Yummy!

Scones and Coffee

I have listed a new print in my shop. This is an 8×10″ print of my original watercolor illustration featuring a trio of dandelion flowers against a vibrant pink background. I really like the texture in the pinks:

Pink Dandelions

… and here’s what it looks like framed …

Can’t Change Their Stripes

Posted by popwheel on May 29, 2008

Wow! I’m so pleased to inform everyone that I was featured on two blogs last week! First, I did an interview with Andreanna of Blogasaurus. Shortly thereafter my artwork was also on Cuteable. Many thanks to both bloggers!!!

On one of my previous posts I mentioned my daughter’s stripey tights.  I realized today that actually both of my kidlets have a lot of stripey socks.

Then I got to looking at some of my artwork and found stripes there as well!  I think I must just really like stripes.  Here is a “Stripey Pink Flower” from my shop:

Full of Cuteness and Babyness!

Posted by popwheel on May 8, 2008

It’s been another gray-sky day here in beautiful Portland. I love the rain! I’m guessing that the squirrels like it too because they are out in droves today and looking rather feisty. My backyard is a miniature forest and from my studio I can see them running and chasing each other from branch to branch. The squirrels we have in this neighborhood are just ginormous! I see them tightroping on a telephone line which runs through our backyard causing it to bow dangerously toward the ground. This little forest also has lots of robins which is why these birds tend to show up in my art a fair amount.

Here’s a brief moment of ooey-gooey cuteness:

On another note, I listed this new watercolor painting last night in my shop (although I admit, it’s not as cute as the baby):
